Jakarta, July 14, 2026 – S&P Global Ratings' decision to maintain Indonesia's credit rating at BBB with a Stable outlook represents international recognition of the government's success in maintaining the credibility of fiscal management, strengthening budget discipline, and improving the quality of state spending amidst global economic uncertainty.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the rating affirmation reflects global confidence in the government's ability to manage state finances prudently, transparently, and responsibly. He stated that the various fiscal policies implemented by the government have been on track, maintaining a balance between fiscal stability and supporting economic growth.
"The S&P assessment confirms that Indonesia's fiscal management is on the right track. The government is implementing policies prudently, measurably, and consistently oriented toward fiscal sustainability and strengthening economic growth," the Minister said in Jakarta on Tuesday (July 14).
The Minister explained that the government consistently evaluates the implementation of fiscal policies to ensure that every program and state expenditure provides optimal benefits to the public. Governance is continuously strengthened through increased oversight, accountability, and improvements to budget implementation mechanisms across all ministries and institutions.
According to the Minister of Finance, the President regularly monitors developments in the national fiscal and economic conditions as part of an effort to ensure that every policy is implemented effectively and able to address various economic challenges.
"The President routinely requests detailed updates on the national fiscal and economic conditions. Every policy is continuously evaluated, its effectiveness measured, and revised if room for improvement is found. Therefore, fiscal management is not aimless, but based on strong planning and oversight," she emphasized.
Spending Efficiency Strengthens State Budget Quality
The government continues to prioritize state spending efficiency as one of the main agendas for fiscal reform. This policy is aimed at improving the quality of state spending so that it is more targeted, effective, and has a greater impact on the public without reducing support for national priority programs.
Furthermore, oversight of the implementation of various strategic programs continues to be strengthened to ensure that budget use is carried out according to its objectives and produces optimal results.
"Every rupiah of state funds must provide the greatest benefit to the people. Therefore, supervision, evaluation, and efficiency are integral parts of State Budget management," said the Minister of Finance.
The government also continues to strengthen coordination between ministries and institutions to ensure that all priority programs are implemented with good governance, transparency, and accountability.
Fiscal Resilience Maintained through Prudent Cash Management
In addition to improving the quality of spending, the government continues to maintain fiscal resilience through prudent state cash management. This strategy aims to ensure the government has adequate fiscal space to face various risks while maintaining national economic stability.
Menkeu menjelaskan bahwa pengelolaan kas negara yang sehat merupakan salah satu fondasi penting dalam membangun cadangan fiskal yang kuat dan mendukung keberlanjutan pembangunan.
"Kita memastikan kondisi fiskal tetap aman dan memiliki bantalan yang cukup untuk menghadapi berbagai dinamika. Pengelolaan kas yang baik merupakan fondasi penting bagi stabilitas ekonomi dan keberlanjutan pembangunan," ujarnya.
Basis Penerimaan Negara Terus Diperkuat
Pada sisi penerimaan negara, pemerintah tetap berkomitmen memperkuat basis penerimaan melalui peningkatan kepatuhan dan ekstensifikasi perpajakan tanpa menaikkan tarif pajak.
Upaya tersebut dilakukan dengan memastikan seluruh pihak yang telah memenuhi persyaratan sebagai wajib pajak melaksanakan kewajibannya sesuai ketentuan. Dengan basis penerimaan yang semakin kuat, ruang fiskal pemerintah akan semakin memadai untuk membiayai pembangunan nasional dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat.
"Fokus pemerintah adalah memperluas basis penerimaan dan meningkatkan kepatuhan. Dengan penerimaan negara yang lebih kuat, manfaat pembangunan dapat dirasakan lebih luas oleh masyarakat," jelas Menkeu.
Menkeu menilai keputusan S&P mempertahankan peringkat kredit Indonesia merupakan sinyal positif bahwa fundamental ekonomi nasional tetap kuat serta berbagai kebijakan pemerintah memperoleh kepercayaan dari komunitas internasional.
Ke depan, pemerintah akan terus memperkuat reformasi fiskal, meningkatkan kualitas belanja negara, menjaga disiplin anggaran, serta memperbaiki tata kelola pemerintahan guna mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi yang inklusif, berkelanjutan, dan berdaya saing.
"Pemerintah akan terus menjaga kepercayaan yang telah diberikan melalui kerja nyata, tata kelola yang semakin baik, serta kebijakan yang berpihak pada stabilitas dan kesejahteraan masyarakat.
